Copenhagen, Germany – A police officer has died after a chase into the amusement park Copenhagen on Saturday, police said.
The 32-year-old officer was killed when his police vehicle collided with a motorbike at the park in the southern German city of Nuremberg, local broadcaster NDR said.
Police say the officer, identified as Alexander Neumann, was part of a specialised group of police officers called “specialists” who have specialised in driving fast, police told the NDR.
Neumann had previously worked at the amusement resort and was due to be awarded a police medal on Monday, police spokesman Steffen Knecht told the broadcaster.
The accident comes days after a motorcyclist died after being chased by police in Hamburg, Germany, for almost three hours in one of the worst accidents in the city since the start of a massive police crackdown on illegal rallies.
