Ohio has agreed to rename one of its amusement parks, Wonderland, in response to legal battles over the name.
The Cincinnati City Council voted 8-0 Tuesday to rename the Ohio Landmarks Park after Cincinnati native and Cincinnati native artist John Gatto, who died last month.
Gatto died in 2010 at age 95.
The park, which was in operation from 1914 to 1920, was named for the city’s largest street, Liberty Street, that was named in his honor.
The parks name has been in the works for a few years.
The city also is proposing a new name for its park, and it will likely be announced soon.
It’s a name that has been widely considered to be offensive by some, including the city.
